n8n vs FlowSentric: automation for engineers, automation for everyone else
n8n is a great node-based automation tool for technical teams. FlowSentric is an AI workspace with workflows built in for everyone else. Where each one fits.

- n8n is built for people who are comfortable with expressions, JSON and webhooks. FlowSentric is built for the people doing the work.
- Privacy masking, EU-labelled models, approvals and German business tools are defaults here, not nodes you add.
- Many companies run both. Our webhooks and REST API make that easy.
We get asked this a lot, so here's a fair answer. n8n is a widely used, self-hostable, node-based workflow automation platform with a very large integration catalog and, increasingly, AI agent nodes. It's genuinely good. It's also, by design, a tool for people who are comfortable with expressions, JSON, webhooks and reading execution data when something breaks. FlowSentric starts from the other end: what does a tax advisor, a support lead or an operations manager need to put AI to work safely, without an engineer in the loop?
Where n8n shines
- Breadth of integrations. Hundreds of nodes for SaaS tools, databases and APIs, plus generic HTTP.
- Flexibility. Code nodes, expressions and branching let a technical user build almost any pipeline.
- Self-hosting and community. Run it on your own server; a large community shares templates.
If your team has an engineer who owns automation, n8n is a strong choice, and FlowSentric will happily sit next to it. Our workflows expose webhook triggers and our agents are callable from a REST API, so the two can hand work back and forth.
Where FlowSentric is different
The workspace comes first, the automation second. FlowSentric is a place where staff chat with models, ask questions of documents, build agents in a wizard and only then chain them into workflows. Most people never open the node editor. When they do, "Suggest with AI" drafts the graph from a sentence.
Privacy is a default, not a node you remember to add. Privacy Guard masks personal data before any model call, in chat, agents, workflow steps and website widgets, with German tax IDs and German-language name recognition built in. The Privacy Log proves it ran.
EU choices are labelled. Twenty-six models route through an EU gateway and carry an "(EU)" label; embeddings and transcription run locally by default; the DPA and subprocessor list are published.
Humans in the loop are built in. Approval steps pause a workflow until a person signs off, and an approvals inbox collects them.
German business tooling is included. VAT-ID validation, ZUGFeRD and XRechnung e-invoices, DATEV export, Handelsregister lookup, form filling, a calendar with German public holidays, meetings with local transcription.

Which one should you pick?
Pick n8n if automation is an engineering discipline in your company and you want control over every node. Pick FlowSentric if the people who need AI are the people doing the work, and if "what did the model see?" is a question your data protection officer is going to ask. Plenty of companies end up with both. That's fine, and we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise.
